Test Animation set to a random clip of dialogue. (For now just ignore the jitters and little technical glitches)
There's a couple things I would do differently if I were to do this one again. First, the new approach I tried, though it made the first phase super easy, was a lot more work in the long run, because the gestures had no flow, and I had to practically redo much of the video. Second, I've been very aware of the power of the body line lately, and have been noticing some of the beautiful things it can do. So the next thing would have been to plan out the animation with a stronger sense of that -- and I could use it more boldly too: I don't think it's right to animate to this kind of dialogue and keep the feet so planted. I'm also not satisfied with how clearly the expressions read (although a little of that is coming from poor lighting and jutting eyebrows).
Basic walkcycle made when I first finished the character.
First shots of a short I'm working on. No rendering for this animation, rough view only. The camera work will be changed.
My focus at the time of starting this video was in learning to make my animation a little more snappy; I felt like my animation so far had always been a little too weighty. When I finished I feared I had made it a little too snappy. This video still has a lot of strangeness in it, the funny camera work doesn't help
